VOLUNTEER RECEPTIONIST

The St. Augustine’s Centre works with asylum seekers, refugees, and EU migrants. The growth in numbers for people seeking advice from our Monday and Tuesday sessions has become so great that our advice worker, development worker and volunteer are over loaded and find it hard to complete work tasks. Therefore the centre is looking for a volunteer to handle and sign post clients as they enter the building, deal with appointment handling, fill in basic monitoring forms, deal with simple requests, phone calls if and when requested and possibly small administration tasks. For some of the time the centre may be quiet but at other times it can be very busy.

The person must be confident in working on their own and using their initiative, have some knowledge of small administration tasks, confident in trying to communicate with people who’s second language is English or those who do not speak any English. Some I.T experience would also be useful but not necessary.

The role will be of huge benefit to the centre and the advice worker and in turn we can guarantee that anyone taking on the role will gain fulfilment and experience working with clients from overseas and a culturally diverse community.

The centre can pay volunteer travel expenses and on a Tuesday can provide lunch.
